The symposium on biorefinery and bioprocess topics (called i-BioX series; X denotes the host city) was initiated in 2009 with the first meeting at Kobe university (i-BioK), and then a series of these symposiums has been held among five members (Japan, Korea, Singapore, China, and Taiwan) every year. The representatives of each member are Prof. Akihiko Kondo (Japan), Prof. Jong Moon Park (Korea), Dr. Jin-Chuan Wu (Singapore), Prof. Xin-Hui Xing (China), and Prof. Jo-Shu Chang (Taiwan).
The attendees of i-BioX symposiums are invited only by the country representatives to ensure high quality lectures, as well as close and intensive interactions among the experts participating in this meeting. Therefore, the number of participants is usually less than 70. This symposium will grow as one of the most influential symposiums in the field of biorefinery and bioprocess.
